Who are the people that will dive for you?

Image
At the World Championships in Budapest in June, USA’s Anita Alvarez sank to the bottom of the pool. Looking across the deck, then noticing she was under way too long, her coach, Andrea Fuentes immediately dove in after her fully clothed, pulling her to safety. Anita was unconscious and didn’t have the capacity to kick, paddle, or help herself in any way. If Andrea would not have noticed, she would have drown. But she knew Anita. She looked for her, quickly noticed she was under too long, then dove in without thinking twice. This has resonated with me…. When you are under too long, who are the people that will look for you, notice, and dive in to pull you to the surface when you lose your strength to swim? Who are the people that would do that for you? And can someone count on you to be that person that would go looking and notice when they are under too long, diving in to support them when they are all out of fight and fuel to swim in these turbulent waters we call life?

Madan OP and Societal Values

Please note that the following blog post is neither in support of nor in denial to the events that are happening in the current scenario of a person named "Madan OP". At the time of writing this blog I'm going by the name Madan OP only because the media has stated so and I wouldn't be talking about his personal life but only what he had done in the online community vs the societal stereotyping. It is a well known news by now that a person named Madan OP had been arrested for abusing girls (in general) online. Few days back, I had gone to his so called videos on YouTube and listened to just one video and I do confirm that he did use abusive language. Hold up... So, what's the catch? Let's date back to couple of months back, Gen Z is in Instagram while the Millennials are just chilling with the Facebook, aren't we? Yup. So, being that same old millennial I was on Facebook this one day. Owing to the fact that Facebook's algorithm has changed drastically o

Blog About A Blog... What?

Sunday. Office leave? Noon. Just woke up? Taking a bath. Who showers on a Sunday? Aren't you supposed to chill, relax and be lazy on purpose to enjoy one day off your 7 days where you work hard for the rest 6 days of the week? For me. Sunday. Office leave? Nope, Got to get to work. Noon. Just woke up? Nope, woke up early morning. Taking a bath. Who showers on a Sunday? Got to stay fresh, so that'd be me. Or could be you? (Pssstttt.. If you're reading this on a Sunday, did you take a shower yet? Leave it in the comments.) But what is this blog about? This is supposed to be a blog about a blog. Isn't it? Yes, So after a shower, LoGi switches ON the computer, opens the browser and Mozilla recommends him a topic. "Degunk your showerhead in 1 hour with this simple science hack for knocking the crust off" The articles say things about Calcium particles building up inside the showerhead as the water is hard which leads to clogging up and decrease in the water pressur

Life Lesson, Part 1

Everyone of us has been confident at some point of our life which changed OUR perspective of life; which also changed OTHERS perspective about us. One such incident happened in my life: There was this one time when I was facing electrical issues with my AC power socket. I noticed that the stabilizer turns off even if the main power switch is in ON position. So, I called my electrician. He came and checked thoroughly, did some wiring changes, demonstrated that it's working and left. I happen to switch it ON the next day and I noticed that the problem was still existing. So, I called the electrician again and our conversation went like this: Me : Power swtichல இன்னும் பிரச்சனை இருக்கு போல, அண்ணா. வந்து பாக்குறீங்களா? (Looks like the power switch is still a problem, brother. Can you come and have look at it?) He : அப்டிங்களா, sir? நான் நெர்றே எல்லாம் check பண்ணிட்டேன் Sir. எல்லாம் correctஆ work பண்ணுது. சரி, எதுக்கும் நான் இன்னிக்கி சாயங்காலம் வந்து பாக்குறேன், sir. (Is it, sir

Me, Myself & Mathematics

We all have that fear towards maths, the subject which actually tests our basic understanding. As an elder person we might’ve advised our younger ones to study seriously despite the fact that we did not do the same. Among people who hated maths, I was no different. I have 2 incidents to share from my life that is related to maths. Here it goes- I was studying 4th standard and I feared maths (like, I told you). There was a maths teacher who made us routinely to recite multiplication tables from 5th till 19th tables, every day. (And, I mean everyday!!). The whole class used to say it loudly in unison and the ones who didn’t know were able to escape by lip-sync (just imagine singers lip-syncing on stage without giving you any small suspicions) and one day she came up with a shocking solution. She would randomly point out any person and ask them to recite any multiplication table of her choice in front of the class. I managed to escape a lot of times but luck did not f

A Ray Of Hope

Have you ever got stuck on the way to your house in the middle of a night; 1 km away from your house, with nothing to light your path but the thunderbolts flashing over you, rain splashing the road almost making it hard to tread upon, a phone that has a single LED flash light but dead battery and ALL ALONE BY YOURSELF?? I experienced it!! One hell of an adventure, I must say.      It happened back in the month of November, 2012. I’d gone to Anna university college, Guindy as I‘d some work which took me less time to finish but then I decided to watch their cultural event Techofes'12, which I ‘d not anticipated that it’d turn into a nightmare later. So... it was very entertaining with all the singing and solo dances, and there was a HipHop dance championship that was scheduled to kick off @ 8 pm. I wanted to leave for home but then I was fascinated by the fact that it‘d be very thrilling to see a HipHop competition happening LIVE. So I stayed back, as I mind-calc
